first time ever !

Sunday, December 6, 2009

Okay, so if you know anything about me, you know i can bake, but i that i can't cook.
not that i can't, it just i haven't tried...alone.

but for the first time everrrrrrr i have cooked something simple by myself (:
...it's not that big of a deal, but it's an accomplishment to MOI!

my mom said it was about time that me and laura started learning how. & that we couldn't argue anymore that we're busy.
so both laura and i got a recipe we wanted to try from this American recipe set. and i chose to try
New Yorker Pasta.

well...it doesn't look exactly like what it's supposed to. but i had to make a few minor adjustments to the recipe just cuz i didn't have the stuff i needed :P

for example, my mom couldn`t get me blue cheese....so i had to use cheddar (yum yum i love cheese. i think it`s my favourite food XD). HAHA. & i used to much pasta! so compared to the pasta, there was only a little bit of broccoli D: (i LOVE broccoli btw!) & cheese was the easist thing to redo and melt again, so that`s what i made more of....OH MY...the calories on my meal just went WAY up hahaha
anywho, i learned my lesson. so i know what to do next time (not that there`s going to be a next time, cause that meal was just too fatty!!) but here`s the recipe if anyone wants to try it out (:New Yorker Pasta 3/4 lb. Thin spaghetti 1 bunch broccoli, about 1 lb. 3 tbsp butter or margarine 1/3 lb. Roquefort, Gorgonzola or your favourite blue cheese 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese Cracked pepper
Directions: 1) Bring pot of water to a boil. 2) Meantime, wash broccoli and peel stems. Place in large saucepan with 1" of water. Cover. 3) Cook about 5 minutes until tender-crisp. Drain. Set aside, uncovered. 4) Cook spaghetti according to package directions until just tender but not mushy. Drain. 5) Melt butter in skillet. Briefly saute garlic over low heat. Add cheese. Stir until melted. 6) Place hot spaghetti in serving bowl with cooked broccoli. Toss with cheese sauce. 7) Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and cracked pepper. Toss again. 8) Serve steaming hot.
