We decided to cancel Cotillion practice for today because 5/7 of our boys were on the Stake Young Men's basketball team. We thought, hey, our boys are supporting us by dancing in the Cotillion, why don't we support and cheer them on in their game.

And thus we did :)

Ah-haaaaaa! I made legit signs.
Toronto Stake were the only one with cheerleaders. We're cool.

Today was the spring kick-off, and like the rest of the awesome kick-offs we've had, there was some sort of bouncy thing. And today it was a bouncy castle. OH-EM-GNESS. So much fun. We were at war!

MGCI INTERNATIONAL SHOW 2011!!!

Thursday, April 28, 2011

WOOOOOOT! I got to roam around my high school today! YAY!

Laura came home during her break so I could do her make-up. She thought she looked like a...well, ha, you can finish that sentence yourself.

We got to school during lunch break and I had a list of teachers in mind I wanted to visit:
- Mr. Hillman
- Ms. Bhowmik
- Mr. Fradelos
- Ms. Bozzi
- Ms. Ford

I took Laura to the cafeteria and right away she's like "there goes Mr. Fradelos!". Agh, I haven't seen him in two years...I wasn't going to jump in front of his face cuz he might not remember me XD

So I head to the gym to see Mr. Hillman, my softball coach, while he was holding basketball inter murals. Boy, that man is busy. It took a while before we could start talking. I was catching him up on life...LOL i love talking to Mr. Hillman because he's always to interested in hearing about our standards and religious beliefs. So awesome.

Then as Mr. Hillman's iner mural boys were heading out, I see Mr. Fradelos walk into the gym. He was my gr9 geography teacher, so i'm like "NOOOO WAYYY. He teaches gym now?!" Mr Hillman told me I should go head over and say hi.

I did. And Fradelos goes, "hi, can i help you with something?" (i was the only girl standing on the boy's side of the gym). I go off explaining that I was one of his students..and his eyes goes wide and he's like "oh my goodness, right! remind me of your name!" After I tell him he's like "oh gosh, how could i forget? you were one of my best students!" Bahahahaha THAAAAAAAAAT'S RIGHT! I just ended up chilling with him while his students played dodgeball...and he told me that he still had my town model, "Skittlesville", and that he kept it to show his students since it was so good. HA-HA-HA, i feel special!

Now let me explain, when we were in grade 9 alllllllllll the girls in my class had a huge crush on him. Except me. I thought it was gross to like a teacher. Ha-ha-ha, but he ain't my teacher anymore ;D I will leave it at that.

Then I went up to visit Ms. Bhowmik like I promised. She was ending her fashion class and I went along with her to her gr11 I:APS class where she made use of me...she got me to talk about university to her students. Then she put them to work and we talked about photography, YAY. She was very supportive and she even said I can take pictures of her baby girl :)

Apparently, Ms. Bhowmik's contract finished, so now she only does supply teaching. But HAPPY WEDDING DAY to Ms. Bozzi, whenever her wedding day is. I just remember he telling me it was going to be summer 2011.

The I went to visit Ms. Ford. One of my favourites, that's for sure! She was supposed to retire, but she stayed to work in guidance. And weird enough, she was talking to someone who was in one of the grade 8 classes I helped teach 3 years ago. They all remember my face :]

I went back to Ms. Bhowmik after and she showed me pictures of her husband and baby. WOA, what a good-looking family! I always thought Ms. Bhowmik was so pretty. And he hubby's pretty attractive! Then her baby is the most adorable little munchkin I've ever seen.

ON TO THE SHOW!
I crashed on them setting up since I know the people in charge. Ha, I entered the cafe and all I hear is "ATE ATE AT!". Yep, I feel loved.

Here are the videos! Careful of my screaming XD

Sara and I worked on our book today.

If I haven't said anything about that yet, it is basically a book for youth, by youth. We discuss standards and trials and preparation through youth's perspective and the perspective of those YSA who have been through those at their younger ages as well.

Anyway, so Sara and I were about to start....and then all of a sudden we decided to say a prayer.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA i don't know why I'm laughing, but Sara and I found this fairly funny.

Afterwards we both went on about "woa, we said a prayer together". I think it's because we're surprised at this maturity. LOL

Anyway, we got onto the computer and the ideas started to flow. Divine Intervention? I think so! :)

Oh, and it was Laura's parent-teacher interviews today. I went for the sake of seeing my teachers. I haven't seen Ms. Bhowmik in FOREVER. And I finally got to meet Mr. Mirza. That guy is too cool. And Zoal was there accompanying her sister as well. I MISS HER SO MUCH!!!! I like ran and hugged her from across the gym!

YW Camp Specialist! WOOT!

Saturday, April 23, 2011

There was a YW Camp leadership meeting today. None of the YW leaders from our ward could make it, so Derrice sent me to go. Ahaaaaa, Dinora asked who the leaders were going to be and I couldn't say so she made me one of the Camp Specialists! WOOT WOOT! I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!!!! All those years since I was 13, I was always taught by the best leaders and now it was my turn to do the same thing for my girls. I am SO SUPER EXCITED! I'm gonna make sure my 2nd year girls have the most amazing 3 days everrrrrrr!

The refreshments were super good. But the basketball boys were hungry, so they kept muching off of me! I looked like such a pig coming back multiple times to fill up my plate again.

And then Elder Dewey asked Laura and I if we could come help teach...which I was extremely grateful for. I haven't been teaching with the Elders in FOREVER. I really enjoyed their investigator. He was just so into the gospel! It's so refreshing to see people so interested in learning about the truth!

...And then we had cotillion practice. Sigh. Nbd.

Dinner with the Missionaries!

Friday, April 22, 2011

Well, we were supposed to have the Elders over for Balot.......unfortunately we couldn't find any, so they didn't get to eat any.

But we had a good dinner with them anyway. Laura and I had bonding time with the Hermanas, talking about dating. Hahaha, Hermana Wheeler was like, "oh so you're one of those girls!". I have no idea what she meant by that.

As usual, I was freaking about my baking, and the Elder Dewey says, "Ariana, there is nothing you've ever baked that didn't taste good". BAHAHAHAHA, yes that made me happy. Then my dad told me to pop my big head LOL.

Easter Season

Thursday, April 21, 2011

Jezreel came over today to help me bake Black Devil cupcakes. As we were doing so, my mom was watching and listening to Easter videos/music on youtube. That got Jezreel and I into the discussion of our gratitude for the Atonement.

For some reason I was just really into the Easter season this year.

Ever since I was a child, Easter has always been a time for Easter egg hunts, chocolate bunnies, and a huge family fiesta at my Uncle Greg's house (he's Greek!).

But this past year Jezreel and I both have reason to be grateful for the Atonement. Before, the Atonement was just another "church word" that I knew was important, but didn't really have much significance in my life. But as I have come to know of the blessings of repentance and that feeling of trusting the Lord with the decisions I had to make changes with myself, I have found a deeper love for Jesus Christ because of the love He had for me. I can't even express how humbled I feel knowing that Christ would do that for me, just another girl living on earth who makes just as many mistakes as any other. It truly shows how much our Heavenly Father wants us to live with Him again...so we can right our wrongs and just really try to perfect ourselves so we can live together again.

Dan's Mission Call!

Monday, April 18, 2011

So Daniel calls me today and tells me he gets his mission call. FINALLY!!!!!!!! I’m so excited for him! He didn’t want to open it until FHE that night...so we all had to wait. It was such a killer!!! Daniel decided that around 8:00 we’d meet up on Skype and he’s leave it on so we could listen in on his FHE with his family and friends and find out where he’s going. We thought it was brilliant, but when he read out his mission call later on everyone at his house screamed and none of us on Skype could hear. We kept typing up “tell us!!! Tell us!!!”, but it was no use. Then we heard Daniel start to cry....awwwww he was giving his testimony. I was so touched. Awwww DANIEL LEE, YOU ARE GOING TO BE A GREAT MISSIONARY!

My profile pic dedicatory to him:
'Tis is Daniel Lee. He has been called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Australia Brisbane Mission. He reports at the MTC on August 3rd. I'm proud of you bud. I'm going to miss you. Thanks for being such a good friend, Dannykins. You're going to do amazing! Love ya! ♥

D&C 6

Sunday, April 17, 2011

  • It says in 6:4 that, "whosoever will thrust in his sickle and reap, the same is called of God". In continuation with chapter 4, as long as someone willingly does His work, he is called of God.
  • When we have "an eye single to the glory of God", we are seeking "to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion." This is the work the Lord needs us to fulfill; He needs us to help build up Zion.
  • In 4:4, it says that when we have the willingness to work, we bring salvation to our soul. Our salvation for being a righteous and obedient servant of the Lord is have eternal life. We might have eternal life, but we are only considered "rich" to have it because we will have our family with us to make it worth while. Eternal life isn't so great when it's just you alone. That's why it is so important to have valiant servants spread the word of God to the world. When we studied D&C 128, we were told that "salvation is an individual matter, exaltation is a family matter." Although we were studying the work for the dead, it still applies to all those who are living. We need to spread the word because we want to be able to bring to people the joy of the gospel and share with them the blessings and reward of living eternal life with our families. As we studied D&C 128, we learnt as a class that this is ONE BIG FAMILY. When it comes to bringing our families to share eternal life with us, it doesn't just apply to my small family unit; it applies to this huge family unit of all our spiritual brothers and sisters.
  • These past few Institute lessons has made me realize how central and important the family is to the Gospel. So much of the doctrine and obedience to the commandments and council of the church leaders has so much to do with strengthening our families and reuniting our spirit family back together again. I may not know the other people of this world so it might be a little hard to grasp the idea that they are all my spirit family. But if I think of it this way: right now I enjoy big family parties where I get to be around those I care about and get to know them better. In a spiritual aspect, bringing all these souls the truth of the gospel is just going to be like a huge spiritual family reunion. I may not know everybody, but the knowledge that they are my FAMILY allows me to love and care for them and get to know them so we can be more like family. With that, eternal life is going to be super enjoyable and something to look forward to. This is what makes so much sense about the Gospel: that everything relates to one thing, and that is the family. Whether it is strengthening our family unit or helping others strengthen theirs, it all goes back to this huge spiritual family reunion. Even when I look back to today's Sunday school lessons and Sacrament meeting talks, everything is linked to becoming one eternal family. This is what makes the Gospel so amazing and just makes so much sense! There's ONE goal behind it all and that is for us to be together forever. I'm grateful for the Institute lessons that have taught me this the past few weeks. Observing from my own actions, I find myself being more interactive with my family members and getting along with my parents more easily recently than I have before. I find that I am happier when I am closer to my family. I am SO grateful for Institute and for this knowledge of the Gospel! Time to share it with the world!!!!!

Revelation
  • God knows the thoughts and intents of our hearts. If we are faithful, He provides a way to meet our needs.
  • God tells Oliver to stand by Joseph Smith. If we stand by our prophet in these latter days, we are more protected and are entitled to receive more personal revelation if we follow their council.
  • In verse 20, the Lord councils Oliver to "be faithful and diligent in keeping the commandments of God, and I will encircle thee in the arms of my love." Sometimes we hope for things, but they don't turn out exactly how we would have hoped. If we apply this council of the Lord, His promise to "encircle [us] in the arms of [His] love", will always apply. Things might go wrong, but if we have that faith and diligence in God's commandments, we will feel the comfort of His love knowing that things happened the way they did for a reason. i guess that alone is revelation for ourselves. When you look at things with a certain perspective, the Lord reveals to us that maybe a certain thing wasn't meant for us and that He has something else in store for us. We need to be open to that and trust Heavenly Father that this is what He knows is best for us. If we don't follow the council to be faithful, our perspective isn't the same and if something doesn't happen the way we want it to, we start to question instead of being grateful for it. But if we are faithful, we will feel that peace in our hearts that everything will work out okay. That is our personal witness that we have a Saviour who loves us.
  • I liked what was said in verse 33 that we should not fear to do good. A lot of the time, especially living as a teen in the world today, doing something good gets harder and harder when done alone because other may look down on it. But the Lord promises that as long as we do good, then what we reap will be good too. He says that as long as are built upon His rock, then the evils cannot prevail against us. When I think of revelation I always think of people receiving a big witness, like Elder Bednar's talk and his analogy of revelation like a light suddenly being turned on. And even in comparison to the sunrise where the revelation comes gradually, I forget that something as simple as being comforted by God is enough revelation for me to know that He is there and He loves me.

D&C 4

  • If we have desires to serve God, then we will be called to do His work.
  • I shouldn't worry too much if I don't know what I plan to do. Between praying about serving my mission and becoming a mom, my mind gets all worked up about what exactly I should be doing and what path I should take. After reading this verse it gives me some comfort knowing that as long as the desire is there, we will be called. I know that relates a lot to missionary work: "as long as you have the desire to serve a mission, then you will receive a call", but I also feel that it can apply is to so much more. We can serve God in so many ways and I think as long as we have that desire in our hearts, the call to serve God will be there. When the desire is there, our perspective changes and we see more opportunities to do things to enable ourselves to serve God. For example, I'm always praying for opportunities to serve others, thinking that those opportunities will just be placed before me. But I think if I made it more of a desire to serve my Heavenly Father to help Him help His children, then the opportunities will come differently. Instead of waiting for something to happen for me to act upon, I will then start keeping a wide and open perspective of ways I can help others, even through little things and gestures. These opportunities will be found more easily if I keep my heart and mind open to what I really want to do, which is to serve the Lord. I feel comfort knowing that I'm not useless or all that lost when it comes to choosing what I want to do in life. As long as I keep that desire to serve God and offer up myself to do what the Lord wants me to, then He will provide those opportunities for me to serve Him. Maybe it won't be something I expect, but it'll be something that the Lord knows I need to experience for me to grow and progress and continually serve Him.
  • This revelation was given through Joseph for his father, Joseph Smith Sr. Before moving to Palmyra, he had crop failures and financial losses. I think this revelation was for him both temporally and spiritually. Temporally, I think the revelation was to advise him with the characteristics listed to help him be encouraged to do His work even though he's had trouble before. Spiritually, I think it was to prepare and advise Joseph Smith Sr. of his callings to come. The revelation was given to him in February 1829; over a year later in April 1830, the church was organized and he was the first to be baptized. Maybe at the time the revelation was given, Joseph Smith Sr. didn't know what the council was for. But the verses advise him that "faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God" is what qualifies him to do His work. I think because he was advised that and many other characteristics, it helped him be prepared for the callings he soon was appointed to. Joseph Smith was the first Patriarch of the church and was a counselor in the First Presidency. Both are really important callings and I think only those who Heavenly Father  thinks are capable to do those callings, He will appoint them to do so. Heavenly Father sent him the revelation to prepare him to serve Him worthily in His kingdom. To be a counselor in the First Presidency may not have any requirements that has to do with skill or strength, but the Lord does require His leaders of the church to have faith, to be virtuous, to have knowledge, to be self-mastered, to be patient, to have brotherly kindness, godliness, and charity, to be humble, and to be diligent. All those are qualification the Lord needs for His leaders and He can trust that they will serve Him faithfully.
  • The Lord has a plan. In verse 4 He is revealing that His church is almost restored. He sent the revelation to prepare His future leaders of the work they need to do and the faith and diligence they need to put into it. He compares the work to a field. He says that the field is white and ready to harvest. Likewise, the time this was revealed, Joseph Smith was in the process of restoring the church. With restoring the church, it was ready to harvest, aka, ready to have the truth of the gospel taught and preached to the rest of the world. As long as they "thrust with might" or do the work with faith and trust in God, then they will be blessed and bring salvation to their soul. The Lord blesses His noble and valiant servants.
  • This principle applies even today because we are still trying to teach the gospel to the world. Joseph Fielding Smith said "it contains sufficient council and instruction for a lifetime of study. No one has yet mastered it. It has not intended as a personal revelation to Joseph Smith, but to be of benefit to all those who embark in the service of God." In order for me to serve the Lord, I too must have faith, hope, charity, and love with my mind on the Lord so I may properly serve Him. I must also remember the other attributes listed in verse 6 to help me an all together worthy and more prepared servant of the Lord. If I am lacking in any of the attributes listed, then it is promised  in verse 7 that if I ask then I will receive. If I feel I lack in an attribute, the Lord will help me develop that attribute if I show that I am willing to learn by taking the initiative to ask Him for help. I can prepare myself for the work the Lord would want me to do by living the virtues in verse 5 and to work on the attributes in verse 6.
  • As I work on those qualities, one by one, and ask Heavenly Father for help to develop them, over time I will have progressed and be more qualified to serve as a worthy, valiant servant of the Lord to help build up Zion. I know that I've been called to serve because my desire to be an instrument in the Lord's hands is planted in my heart. I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel and with it comes the desire to help God's children, my spiritual brothers and sisters, to be able to know of the blessings of the Gospel as well.

Murder Mystery Partaaaaaay!

Saturday, April 16, 2011

For Sara's 19th birthday we decided to have a 1920's Murder Mystery Party!!! SO MUCH FUN!!!

Meet Charlotte.

Charlotte is accompanying Robert but that does not stop her from batting her eyelashes and flipping her boa in the face of all men in attendance (single or otherwise). Fabulous dancer too! She knows Amelia from childhood. Both showed exceptional potential art, came from families with low economy status. Spence offered one scholarship to girls who showed promise, but economic circumstances prevented them from paying tuition. Amelia had won the scholarship, which Charlotte always felt was a mistake. She now saw her old friend living the life she always dreamed would be her's.

Meet me, Aleksandra.
"Member of the Russian ballet. Has a deep appreciation for all things art. An old acquaintance of Leonardo, who she met in Italy at an art gala when he was travelling Europe. They had a brief fling, but ended once they parted ways. She later married Frederick, whom she met when she immigrated to Canada, but she never forgot that charismatic artist she met all those years ago."

Meet Charles.
An extremely conservative and traditional lawyer from Ottawa, Charles does not see art as an interesting pass time, especially art produced by a woman, but decided to give in to his wife's wishes for once. He finds the party quite dull. He is especially repulsed by Diana! How can a women know anything about being a true lawyer! He tries to avoid her at all costs! He does love his wife and knows she is talented, but his traditional idealism does not let him give in!

Meet Amelia.
Amelia received a full scholarship and was able to attended Spence Academy because of her great passion for art and promise for it since childhood. From this time forward she began pursuing her career as an artist. At Spence she became acquainted with Susan and Kitty who later became her dearest friends. Amelia refused to follow the norms of womanhood at the time, and allowed her career as an artist to blossom. She met Leonardo at the Sistine Chapels while both were studying the greats in Europe. She found the young artist enchanting and humorous, and his talent for art outstanding. It captured her attention, as well as he heart! After a exciting courtship, Leonardo proposed, and they have been happy ever since. They continue to have joined exhibits displaying their talents, which became even more magical, the deeper they fell in love.

Meet Susan.
Owns the Bee's Knees where the exhibition is taking place. Girlhood friends with Amelia, they met at Spence Academy for Aspiring Young Ladies. Inherited the club when her husband and teenage sweetheart died in the War, leaving her alone. Luckily she had a great eye for business, usually discouraged for women at the time. She is a pioneer for women everywhere!

Meet Leonardo.
Always showing a great interest and talent in the arts, Leonardo attended many schools of the art across both Canada, the United States and Europe. An incredibly talented artist, though he was, he refuse to let himself become pompous or take himself too seriously. He loves to laugh and constantly turns his exhibitions into a comedy show. Making people laugh is one of his many joys of life. When he met Amelia, he feel instantly in love with her passion for art, for her unique personality, and for her breathtaking beauty. Many did not approve of a woman painter, but Leonardo found it greatly refreshing, and knew she was the woman for him.

Meet my hubby, Frederiqe.
Husband to Aleksandra, Frederique is a Hockey player for the Montreal Canadiens. He instantly feel in love with the exotic dancer from Russia, who takes the breath away from any man who looks her way. Although he is a hardcore athlete to the bone, the actually has a deep admiration of art, so when his wife received the invitation to the gala he happily agreed to accompany her! He does not know about his wife's past with Leonardo. However, he arrives late to the Bee's Knees due to a hockey practice in Montreal earlier that day.

Meet Ms. Marilyn and Sir Humphery.
Marilyn: A photographer at the local paper, Marilyn has worked extremely hard to work her way up the economic ladder. She had to literally climb out of her family's poverty hole with her unique love of photography. She was lucky to find a job at the newspaper company, but once she was in her career began to sky-rocket. Marilyn met Susan at the Bee's Knees when it opened, and they became great friends. She was invited to the exhibition because she has a deep love of art! She was a little worried about having Humphrey as a date, but she assumed it couldn't be so bad.

Humphrey: As head writer for the local paper, Humphrey knows where to find news. So when he heard about this exclusive exhibition, he knew he had to score an invitation! Through his skill of investigating, Humphrey learned that Marilyn, a well known photographer for the paper, was an art fan, and a good friend of Susan, the owner of the club. After using his extraordinary convincing and manipulating abilities, Marilyn agreed to him accompanying her as his date. Oddly enough, it seems that any event Humphrey attends in search for news, huge stories unfold! Some wonder how he always manages to be at the right place whenever catastrophes, unnatural incidence, and dramatic events occur.

Nathan: Despite the exasperation of giggles, I do believe she's dead!

Michael Deeks: The next time you guys have a dead body, please choose a lighter one...

The cake to reveal the murderer. We all had a coloured dot on our name tags.
The colour inside the cake reveals who killed Amelia.

GASPS! It's green!

It's Charlotte!

Amelia is happily surprised to see Charlotte. They had been friends as children, but once she had left for Spence Academy they lost touch. Charlotte had also shown great art potential but her dreams were cut short when she was not accepted to Spence. Both Charlotte and Amelia had grown up in the same economic situation, but there was only one scholarship available for lower-class artists. Charlotte always felt that she deserved that scholarship, but in the end Amelia won it. Charlotte strongly believed that Amelia cheated because her family had the scholarship officer for dinner the night before the decision was to be made. Charlotte was deeply envious of Amelia, who she felt was living the life she deserved. Upon hearing of the exhibition, Charlotte, full of jealousy, made a point to find someone with an invitation. She soon met Robert and used her seducing ways to attain an invitation. During the party, Charlotte takes a small bottle of peanut oil and pours it into the punch. She remembers her old friend's sever allergy from childhood. AKA CHARLOTTE IS THE MURDERER!!

no phoney.

Friday, April 15, 2011

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I am officially done my 2nd year of university! Aw yeaaaaaa! Along with the celebrations, it was Institute Honours Night and I was going to be getting my Achievement certificate! But first, a funny story...

I didn’t pass last term of Doctrine & Covenants.
I was close to not passing this term of Doctrine & Covenants.
I talked to Bro. Goldthorp and he put the classes I attended at York to replace the ones I missed at the TSC. He said all I had to do to qualify for my Achievement certificate was to do make-up work.

So they call out my name so I can get my certificate and as I stand up Amaru bursts out laughing! I was so confused.  As I walked back to my seat looking utterly concerned, Amaru called me a phoney because Sara told her I technically didn’t even pass Institute. Oh my. BUT, I will say now, I did finish my make-up work, so I am totally NO PHONEY!

Wishful thinkers.

Thursday, April 14, 2011

I've been really obsessed with looking at quotes on Tumblr lately, so I thought I'd share. There's a lot, so I'll be dividing them from my sources. 1st up, quotes from:

Wishful thinkers.

"Once upon a time, there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laugher was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering"

"So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life's a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about". - Marilyn Monroe

"Once you've loved someone, even being friends is better than ordinary. It's still kinda magical, like magical friendship. It's deeper than regular friendship, but it's great. It's a friendship you can depend on, like a lifelong love."

"I love your eyes, but I love mine more -- because without mine, I can't see yours."

"If two people are meant to be together, they will eventually find their ways back into each others arms, no matter what."

"A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely."

"Reading is dreaming with eyes open."

I'm offended.

Is it just me or did my little sister, Arielle, seem embarrassed that I took her to school today?

WOW.

I am definitely offended.

C'mon, I know we got there just on time, but no need to ignore me, child.

And I didn't look that bad either.

She starts saying how her class is "RIGHT THERE!" << wow, like no need to give me attitude.

Then I'm walking along side her classmates and she turns her back to me and starts awkwardly laughing with them.

And when I waved good-bye she made sure she wasn't facing me. OUCH.

Holy smokes, my sister is in the second grade and she's embarrassed by her awesome nineteen yr old sister. Well, that's a first.

Weird Food Tiings!

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Today I had my date with Nathan.

During General Conference I had made a brownie cake for Amaru's birthday. Nathan and William had some hummus with them and dared me to put some onto my piece of cake. Mind you, I have never tasted hummus before and I had no idea what it was. I told Nathan if he did it then I would do it. So we did. Hmm, chickpeas and garlic on top of a piece of brownie cake...actually not to shabby! I liked it.

Thus the idea for the date was born. I told Nathan, "why don't we have a weirdest-food-combinations date?"

I did my research and you don't even know the kind of weird things people put together. Nathan and I wanted to try stuff that would be weird but within our budget (aka, stuff we already had), so this was our menu list for the day:

1. Grilled bread & peanut butter, chocolate, berry sandwiches
2. A grilled cheese with peanutbutter and green olives
3. Peanut butter, laughing cow cheese, bananas sandwich.
4. Bannana,applesauce and chocolate syrup.
5. Cream cheese and bacon on a bagel
6. Tortilla chips dipped in fruit-flavored yogurt with chocolate chips
7. Doritos dipped in brownie mix

We started off with the grilled cheese sandwich with peanut butter and olives. We didn't have green ones so we used red. Neither of us had breakfast yet so this was pretty much our brunch.

This is Nathan putting the concoction together.

Mmm, doesn't that look delightful?
NOT!
Ariana rates 4/10.
Nathan rates 3/10.
It wasn't all THAT bad. But then again, when you're hungry anything tastes good. Thankfully Nathan had made a second pure grilled cheese sandwich for each of us just in case we didn't like it.

Next up was the peanut butter and Laughing Cow cheese on bananas. I personally didn't think this would taste that bad because peanut butter and bananas are normal to me. What's a little cheese going to do?

There goes the Laughing Cow cheese into the peanut butter...

This is Nathan sucking it up. It was DISGUSTING.
Ariana rates: 1/10
Nathan rates: 1.5/10

It was SO GROSS. We had to force ourselves to finish it and we needed milk to down it. I don't usually like to eat peanut butter, especially because I don't like it sticking to the roof of my mouth. This just made it 100 times worse! All you'd taste and smell is peanut butter, then when it's stuck in your mouth all you taste is this weird salty thing...BLEHHHHHHH!!!!

We gave our stomachs a break. Piano time!! Nathan played me some of the pieces he was working on for his piano recital. Then we started to play duets to some of the songs he had...Land Before Time and Five for Fighting!!! Awww yaah!

After a while we decided we would see what else we could try. What was left?

1. Grilled bread & peanut butter, chocolate, berry sandwiches: Sounds yummy!

2. A grilled cheese with peanutbutter and green olives
3. Peanut butter, laughing cow cheese, bananas sandwich.
4. Bannana, applesauce and chocolate syrup: Seemed like a good snack.
5. Cream cheese and bacon on a bagel: Yuck. If we tried this after all the stuff we ate, I think I would've barfed.
6. Tortilla chips dipped in fruit-flavored yogurt with chocolate chips: I personally didn't think this sounded all that appetizing
7. Doritos dipped in brownie mix: We were going to do this but Nathan put the brownie mix in the oven and we had no Doritos. So we just had brownies.

We were going to try them, but we were too bloated to eat anymore. So we ended up watching Stardust! We started half-way through the movie (the part where they get on board the ship) and watched until the part where Tristran pulls out his sword at Humphry (just because it's my favourite with all his hot sword fighting swag!). And I saw Yvaine do her love confession all over again...sigh. It's honestly my most favourite quote. I don't think it could have been said any more beautiful or sincere:

You know when I said I knew nothing about love? That wasn't true. I know a lot about love. I've seen it, centuries and centuries of it, and the only thing that made watching your world bearable. All those wars, the pain, lies, hate, made me want to turn away and never look down again. But to see the way mankind love. You could search the furthest reach of the universe and never find anything more beautiful. So yes, I know love is unconditional, but I also know it can be unpredictable, unexpected, uncontrollable, unbearable and strangly easy to mistake for loathing. And what I`m, I`m trying to say, Tristan, is I think I love you! My heart, it feels like my chest can barely contain it, like it doesn`t belong to me anymore; it belongs to you. And if you wanted it, I'd wish for nothing in exchange. No gifts, no goods, no demonstrations of devotion. Nothing, but knowing you love me too; just your heart, in exchange for mine.

Then Nathan showed me his mission paper stuff. I'M SO EXCITED FOR HIM!!!!!! Then he drove me home and we talked about books all the way. I need to catch up on my summer reading list.

Fun stuff, man. But I am STILL BLOATED! >.<

I am just sayin'

So I've pretty much accepted the fact that I most probably can't have you.
sucks for me because apparently you're still the
first person I think about in the morning and the
last person I think about at night,
and one of the few that I pray for consistently.

Hmm, I wonder when I'll get over this......

SPRING is HERE!

SUN SUN SUN SUN SUUUUUUUUN! Honestly, if Toronto could have one kind of weather, it should be like today's. Jezreel and I soaked it all up!

The sun makes me happy.

I freaked when I saw that Jez had boxing gloves :P

I did not know they existed.

Saturday, April 9, 2011

After tonight I feel like I've been so far from society...I haven't taken my camera out in over a week! SHOCKING. This is what goes down in the town of YSA:

Say hello to my Converse. After that long winter, I feel like I haven't seen them in forever! This beautiful weather makes me excited. Converse, sunglasses, and NOT my winter jacket. Yeeeea baby.

Shanelle freaks out and yells "oh em gee is that a heart?!"
Nope. This is called Dragon Fruit. I did not know they existed.
This girl in YSA got it from China town and was sharing them...

Stripped and pealed!!!

That's what the asian girl was doing, so I thought I'd eat it the same way.

We decided to go with forks. Yeah, I'm not attractive when I eat.

Part-way there. It was so good! Tasted like Kiwi :)

We be your Yorkies.
Vicky Brooks (the girl in the middle) is going back to Ottawa for the summer.
I will miss her. Today was also the one time we actually got to really talk to each other.

Eric and William bought ribs.
And they saved me a piece!
This picture was meant to be rubbed in Laura's face.

Laura came home from the youth dance with the tshirt I had purchased from Emily Jones.

Tis the new profile pic!
